High School Equivalency (HSE)

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is pleased to announce that it has contracted with GED Testing Service (GEDTS) for the provision of the GED® Test, which will serve as the NYS High School Equivalency (HSE) exam, beginning January 1, 2022.

The GED® Test is a well-recognized test of the academic knowledge and skills needed for college and career
readiness as defined by NYSED standards for adult education. The GED® test covers 4 subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reasoning Through Language Arts.
